you'd think that a national design competition would be able to handle the glitches and mishaps that inevitably come when working with computers, but when blender crashed on Dom's computer 17 minutes into the competition saturday night, the MC's and judges at cut & paste seemed to be completely unprepared to handle it.
Dom threw his hands up in the air and the audience let out a sympathetic groan.
"oh no!"
"that sucks!"
everything stopped momentarily and we were quickly informed that there were technical difficulties.
duh.
Dom was allowed to start over while the other 3 competitors waited for him to catch up...
i'm not sure if they just couldn't handle letting only 1 person work, but about 6 minutes into Dom's "catching up" the MC's announced that the other 3 competitors would finish their designs using the 3 minutes they had left and that Dom would still have time afterwards to completely catch up.
lies.
the 3 minutes passed.
this would be aproximately 9 minutes for Dom now.
and with much fan fare and cross conversation, which i'm sure was not distracting at all, Dom was given... MAAAYBE 5 more minutes?
7 minutes would be being VERY generous.
either way... he was not given the full 20 minutes he deserved.
Dom was chosen as the audience's favorite and was the 1st runner up despite what must have been an extremely stressful ordeal.
all bias aside, he should have won and we are all super proud...
and he handled it all like a real pro.
congratulations, Dom.

Word.
Not handled well by the organizers of the event. Dom was robbed and the audience knew it.
